April Alchemy

Greetings Groovy Groundbreakers!!

Happy April 2018 and I hope all of you are smiling as much as I am!  Lots of music, art and heart happening here at the ‘Dragon’ and at Mishy’s,   I love living a creative life, mindfully, it just opens up all sorts of possibilities and pathways that I did not even see before!

Desert Dragon is having a Big Art Sale this weekend, in hopes of clearing out all sorts of way-cool art we have to make room for making more.  Mother’s Day is soon so hopefully lots of wonderful offspring will be shopping for beautiful things for their Moms.  I have been digging through all sorts of storage boxes finding amazing beautiful treasures that I can’t keep hidden anymore.  More custom work orders have filtered in and it seems that may be a good direction for the shop to look for ongoing work and inspiration.  Summer is approaching so we are planning summer kids clay camp and our summer special for members and clay creatives.

My first full production of an original song  “Being Crazy isn’t Enough” is still in-progress, just about done with the recording stage and moving on to mixing and then mastering.  I am slow at the learning curve (as usual) but enjoying the challenge and taking baby steps to the completion, maybe by the end of this month if I can manage it! Once it’s completely finished I will be launching a release and starting to work on the next song for my upcoming EP (probably 2019 for that one)

I also wanted to announce that I will be switching this mailing list to a new platform to more efficiently reach all of you and continue this newsletter!   I have been using my wordpress website blog, but have been taking steps to switch to a better email list platform that will give me an easier time navigating and sharing with you all!  If you see an  incoming email that says “Mishy’s Magic Dragon Soup Newsletter” or something like that, as the sender, that would be me =)    Hoping to step up my game and soon gift a free mp3 to all who have signed up and who sign up in the future!!! I love my tribe, it’s so fun to be able to reach all of you and share the excitement and passion that fills my spirit!

Go out and create something!!! It’s good for you!  Hugs and lots of love,

Mishy

December Designs

Here it is…the end is near!!! Say your goodbyes to 2017 and greet the New Year with a smile in your heart and creativity in your spirit!!!

I mean that, with everything that is me and the blessings that surround me.   Despite a very strange mixture of happenings, I have had a wonderful holiday season surrounded by loving family and friends, filled with celebrations of good food, a roof over my head, and creative work to do.

I hope for everyone the same, warmth, joy and plenty.

I plan to begin the new year with some art adventures I will be sharing with you all, on a daily basis beginning January 3 (you are gonna get plenty of Mishy).  Musical and Visual art will be included and possibly some new creative ventures that I have not even thought of yet!  Video, livestream, audio files, photographs …all may be a part of this.  Then, in February, I plan to take part in my second annual February Album Writing Month adventure, with the intention of using my idea to write a Blues Rock Opera based on Pottery as a Metaphor for Life.  More on that later.

Recording took a backseat while I recuperated from whatever bug it was that decided it needed to visit me.  I am finally feeling the potential to actually sing a decent track on my current original project so I will be getting back to that with the upcoming weeks.  Rest and getting through the holiday was of the highest priority and it seems that success has been had!  The holidays are just about over and so is this unwanted flu bug.

I hope you are able to watch the Mishy Monday Mash, it is something I enjoy putting together every week, then going with the flow and the MishMash potpourri.  Entirely enjoyable having the ability to interact while performing and get immediate feedback, I really like that aspect.  To see past Mashes (36 weeks worth) visit

With that I am going to leave you, for the remainder of 2017 I intend to keep an even keel, not allow the waves of life to overwhelm me and be grateful for every crazy moment!!   I want to send out vibes of peace, love and abundance for all.  Go out and create!!

Love to All,

Mishy

September Stuff

Greetings fellow creative cronies!!!

Here we are falling into October, wow!  Things have been busy enough at the clay studio that I have not taken any time to paint or draw (yet)…however I have been doing clay projects for a few commissions we have taken on.  One commission we may do is creating racing pigeon nest bowls.  Apparently prize racing pigeons are paired and the chicks go for $1500 a piece!  And nobody in the US is making these unglazed bowls, there is a place in the country where you can go pick them up, they won’t ship them.  Very strange business I am in!   Tomorrow we are hosting Dave Beaty again, teaching watercolor, I am very much looking forward to learning from him in a medium I am very unfamiliar with.  Including a photo of some in progress bowls for a commission including some intended for family heirlooms which makes me feel good.

I have been working on songs, and recording, doing a little here and there and getting to know some new software and decide which song or songs to record, and how. Lots of decisions to make and ear-practice to get to where I feel remotely capable!  The Monday Mash is going on Week 23 I believe this week, I am having the best fun arranging my set and executing the ‘show’.   Thanks to any of you who are able to view it!!   One more photo, from my early morning walk yesterday, really pretty weather this time of year here.

Here is hoping everyone is well and happy, enjoy every moment its really all we have, I am savoring this moment sharing my world with you all and it is a blessing I am very grateful for.  Please comment and share if you feel so compelled and soon new music  and art will be heading your way from an open heart!!

Hugs to all,

Mishy

June Juice

Bring on July!

Here we go into the heart of summer, when we embrace the heat here in the desert!  I wanted to write before June ended and update you all on my crazy progress here.

On the visual art side of life we are nearing the completion of our flower art walls and getting lots of great feedback.  The piggy was a big hit and will likely inspire more oversized banks to come!  Hoping to finalize the flowers this upcoming week and will be posting pictures as they add lighting to show them off even more.   The studio has been super busy this summer, it seems pottery is very popular when it gets hot outside.

The audio side of my life has been rather quiet due to being swamped with the visual stuff,  but I was able to sneak away and get back into the recording studio with a violinist who laid down some wonderful tracks, really making me feel like the icing on the cake, and the magic sprinkles too!  Now we will get to some serious mixing and mastering and get some new tracks ready to record, hooray!  I am including a short blurb of Suzanne warming up for  her part on Big Blue Sky, lovin’ all she did on all three tracks!

You will be hearing from me before mid-July again hopefully with some fun updates and new adventures!  I hope everyone has a wonderful Summer 2017, with few worries and many happinesses!

May Musings

Greetings fellow earthlings!

I hope this finds everyone well, and enjoying Spring 2017.  Remember it is this moment right NOW that counts most!  Hugs!

Wow, so our pottery studio cleaning day turned into a week, and probably a month by the time things are really in place.  But the re-organization and purging of unnecessary ‘stuff’ is already amazing!  Kudos to all my studio members and our helpers I am eternally grateful.  We are continuing to create a space more easily navigated, cleaned and maintained and it is already showing!

Our latest adventure at Desert Dragon Pottery  was to fire our wood kiln for her third go-round!  This event happened the last weekend in May and was featured on livestream on facebook!  It started Friday and fired fifteen hours with constant attention and feeding fuel, quite an endeavor,  here are a couple of my personal favorites of mine that were submitted to the fire.

Lots going on in the studio this summer, a special class July 1 with Dave Beaty of Marvel Comics, drawing superheroes on coasters, mugs or plates, Summer Kids Camp, and some commissions keeping us hopping!

On the creative audio’lision’ side of life-

I was able to get into the recording studio and finalize all my ‘tracks’ for the current songs I am trying to get done.  I decided to ask a talented local musician lady Suzanne Lansford to add a violin track on two of them, so all should be finalized soon!  I have a goal to write a dozen songs in the next 90 days, planning on one per week and you all will be seeing this blog incoming twice a month now, I am stepping up my email game!!  And stay tuned for your very own free Mishy song coming to your email inbox SOON!  I have the track picked out and will be sharing it with everyone when I reach my first 100 subscribers (at 98 but 2 are me).  Stay tuned, you will probably be hearing from me very soon <3   Showing off my new guitar strap from Mother’s Day

If you are reading this and you have not signed up for the blog, please go over there on the left side of this screen and put your email in, then confirm to join the Mishy’s Mash Tribe!  Our aim is, creativity,  passion,  joy and art!!
