Adios April!!

Hello friends and fellow creatives!!!

LOTS OF FUN NEWS TODAY!!!  Hooray!!

I am so excited I can hardly stand it =)  My very first release of a fully produced original Mishy song  is going to be available very soon, the release date has been set for May 6, 2018.   It will be available on all the streaming sites, itunes, spotify, amazon music, youtube music etc.     The title is Being Crazy Isn’t Enough and I’ve been posting some drips n drabs with my Dr Suess ramblings to   hopefully get some folks interested.  I will definitely share when May 6 comes, woot!!

In other ‘news’, I am going to begin sending my news from another source, to create a new, more efficient way to keep in touch with all of you, my treasured co-horts in this crazy game we call life.   I have been trying to figure out easy-peasy ways to focus my musical and art energies so that I can have more time to create and share with you-all and still pay the bills.  It is a tough balance, as we all know. The pottery studio and music energies are flowing strong in me and I feel like I am just where I am supposed to be and need to be steady and keep my head above water, lay back on the surface and float in the sun…. Wait..where am I again?

Okay back to my point-  Soon you will be receiving an email from a different source, from Mishy’s Dragon Magic Newsletter   I will continue to share music and art updates regularly hoping to engage you and brighten your world as you brighten mine.   I hope you continue to open up these updates, I have plans to share ongoing workshops and musical offerings at Desert Dragon Pottery and the antics and musical capers I may happen to come up with.  The new newsletter will have a free gift with it (all current subscribers will get access and new signers’ up).  Target date to start the new newsletter will be May 6…with the original song release =)

Love and Creativity to All!!!

Go out and create, it’s good for you <3

See you soon from my Dragon Magic Newsletter!!

April Alchemy

Greetings Groovy Groundbreakers!!

Happy April 2018 and I hope all of you are smiling as much as I am!  Lots of music, art and heart happening here at the ‘Dragon’ and at Mishy’s,   I love living a creative life, mindfully, it just opens up all sorts of possibilities and pathways that I did not even see before!

Desert Dragon is having a Big Art Sale this weekend, in hopes of clearing out all sorts of way-cool art we have to make room for making more.  Mother’s Day is soon so hopefully lots of wonderful offspring will be shopping for beautiful things for their Moms.  I have been digging through all sorts of storage boxes finding amazing beautiful treasures that I can’t keep hidden anymore.  More custom work orders have filtered in and it seems that may be a good direction for the shop to look for ongoing work and inspiration.  Summer is approaching so we are planning summer kids clay camp and our summer special for members and clay creatives.

My first full production of an original song  “Being Crazy isn’t Enough” is still in-progress, just about done with the recording stage and moving on to mixing and then mastering.  I am slow at the learning curve (as usual) but enjoying the challenge and taking baby steps to the completion, maybe by the end of this month if I can manage it! Once it’s completely finished I will be launching a release and starting to work on the next song for my upcoming EP (probably 2019 for that one)

I also wanted to announce that I will be switching this mailing list to a new platform to more efficiently reach all of you and continue this newsletter!   I have been using my wordpress website blog, but have been taking steps to switch to a better email list platform that will give me an easier time navigating and sharing with you all!  If you see an  incoming email that says “Mishy’s Magic Dragon Soup Newsletter” or something like that, as the sender, that would be me =)    Hoping to step up my game and soon gift a free mp3 to all who have signed up and who sign up in the future!!! I love my tribe, it’s so fun to be able to reach all of you and share the excitement and passion that fills my spirit!

Go out and create something!!! It’s good for you!  Hugs and lots of love,

Mishy

March Mitzvah

Dearest Dreamers!

A Mitzvah in the Jewish religion is a good deed compelled by religious commandment.  Such duties can certainly be labors of love and I certainly was moved and inspired by the huge mitzvah enacted upon by our nations young people this past week, what an incredible show of strength and solidarity!  It gives me hope for our future and theirs.

March has flown by for me, seems like I need a do-over so I can get some things done I wanted to!!  I have returned to my recording venture with my fresh songs and attitude and will be committed to creating some finished recordings before the end of this year.    The songs I wrote in February are maturing nicely and one will make it to the EP if plans remain the same as they are presently!

I have done a few livestreams making large bowls and recently returned to making some small musically related sculptures for myself and my sanity.  The studio action is picking up for our summer season (always hot), classes are busy and new members have joined our tribe at Desert Dragon.

As always I urge you all to go create something, anything for therapy, indulgence, respite or solace, it’s an amazing thing!  Closing with a picture taken of me today, typically goofy-  Love you all!!! <3  Mishy

February Fancies

Hello Friends, Family and Fans!!

I am having a fabulous February, writing songs like a mad-woman, I am already at 12 in progress.  This includes my first jazz tune, and my first co-written tune (also jazz), both of which I am very excited about.  So humbling to be amongst so many amazingly talented musicians and songwriters in the FAWM family.

I was so thrilled to see my numbers increase after that month of posting daily, I am going to put a free mp3  out for everyone on my blog list and to new signers up here.  I am working on recording something suitable and will plan on having it up here by the end of this month.

Working on a couple commissions in the clay world, some vases and bowls, I will share some of those in process soon, as I intend to get back to sharing more on a semi-daily basis.  Some livestreams for sure, I really love that interaction and excitement!  I have a hankering to do some more drawing and painting soon too, so who knows where that will lead.  Songwriting is definitely  commandeering most of my attention and focus until March 1, gotta take advantage of the energy!  In closing, I am going to share the lyrics to one of my new songs, this is Butterfingers 🙂

In that split moment, my treasure was no more

Time may feels its dragging    Especially when we’re young                              When….all of a sudden,   Our songs can feel unsung

Treasures Time Love and Dreams Here and gone so quick it seems

Love is Never Ending  So it feels at first                                                                          Suddenly you look to find that bubble it has burst

Butterfingers  Butterfingers  Hang on tight if you can                                 Keep it close Mind yourself or it slips right through your hands

Dreams can call your name Invade your every thought                   Suddenly they fade away Hard lessons we are taught

Here it is…the end is near!!! Say your goodbyes to 2017 and greet the New Year with a smile in your heart and creativity in your spirit!!!

I mean that, with everything that is me and the blessings that surround me.   Despite a very strange mixture of happenings, I have had a wonderful holiday season surrounded by loving family and friends, filled with celebrations of good food, a roof over my head, and creative work to do.

I hope for everyone the same, warmth, joy and plenty.

I plan to begin the new year with some art adventures I will be sharing with you all, on a daily basis beginning January 3 (you are gonna get plenty of Mishy).  Musical and Visual art will be included and possibly some new creative ventures that I have not even thought of yet!  Video, livestream, audio files, photographs …all may be a part of this.  Then, in February, I plan to take part in my second annual February Album Writing Month adventure, with the intention of using my idea to write a Blues Rock Opera based on Pottery as a Metaphor for Life.  More on that later.

Recording took a backseat while I recuperated from whatever bug it was that decided it needed to visit me.  I am finally feeling the potential to actually sing a decent track on my current original project so I will be getting back to that with the upcoming weeks.  Rest and getting through the holiday was of the highest priority and it seems that success has been had!  The holidays are just about over and so is this unwanted flu bug.

I hope you are able to watch the Mishy Monday Mash, it is something I enjoy putting together every week, then going with the flow and the MishMash potpourri.  Entirely enjoyable having the ability to interact while performing and get immediate feedback, I really like that aspect.  To see past Mashes (36 weeks worth) visit

http://www.facebook.com/MishyKatz

With that I am going to leave you, for the remainder of 2017 I intend to keep an even keel, not allow the waves of life to overwhelm me and be grateful for every crazy moment!!   I want to send out vibes of peace, love and abundance for all.  Go out and create!!

Love to All,

Mishy

November Notes

Hello Fellow Creatives!! (you are and deep down inside you know it)

Here we are in the midst of the season of gratitude and mindfulness of blessings, I try to carry that feeling with me all the time, in honor of and consideration of how short life can be and how we need to appreciate every moment.

The big news on my mind today is this launching of my new Patreon site.  I have been creating various aspects of that site and figuring out ways to improve my presentation and ways to use the site.   It has turned out to be quite creatively compelling in and of itself!  I am almost ready to launch and very excited but I have a couple other things to finish up after I get this post sent, the plan is to get it out by noon.

My ever-active mind theater has been playing scenes of pottery ideas to me, with no time to work on them.  So I am documenting them in my long lists of ‘ideas to work on later’.  This happens a lot, the stuff piled around in my studio that looks like ‘mess’ is often a treasure trove of “OH YAH I wanted to TRY this!” when I finally get to sorting through it.  One of my favorite things about working in clay are the endless possibilities.  If my Patreon site gains contributions to my efforts, I will be putting a portion of it towards improvements in the studio  for my own work and class offerings for others to try their ideas too!

I have made good progress on my self-recording, getting much closer to something that sounds finished and feeling less frustrated, it is time consuming but compelling.  Tonight I return to Steampunk Audio Studio to mix down the stuff I recorded this past spring and talk about some future recording.  This EP may materialize yet!!  I have plenty of motivation and material, now to find the time…hopefully Patreon can help some with that by supplementing the never-ending overhead of life.

I will be sending out a Patreon launching email later on today, stay tuned and please visit it when it arrives and leave me feedback either there or here so I can improve it!!!  If you have not go to the left side of this screen and sign up for this blog so I can reach 100, I am ONE AWAY at this writing.   When that happens I will be emailing a free mp3 to the first 100 subscribers and thank you in advance!!!  I love every one of you and am so grateful for just the eyeballs reading this email and the companionship, friendship and feedback you have given me already.

Breathe, Smile , Enjoy, Live Good and Kind <3

Until the next creative connection-

Mishy

November Noise

Hello Creative Creatures!!

Here it is already past halfway through this month and coming up on the New Year!  I know…shhhh too soon!!

Holiday season brings many wonderful blessings, family gatherings, gifting, gratitude wonderful stuff!!  Desert Dragon Pottery has a Holiday Studio Open House we are planning and this year we hope to have an additional pottery/art sale and a yard sale trying to clear out and share our gifts with the world!

     http://desertdragonpottery.com/join-us-december-17-for-our-annual-holiday-studio-open-house/

I have been making good progress on my recording, learning a lot from my class with Katie Heath

http://wwwkatieheathstudios.com

In fact, I was the lucky winner of a contest she held, and I won a $100 gift card to Sweetwater Music!!  I am still daydreaming about what I need, could be a mic-stand or a tablet holder, maybe some orchestra bell mallets ..fun, to shop!!

I made a big decision this past week, spurred on by a few  events that happened in my life that seemed to point me in a certain direction.  I am pursuing a “Patreon” account, which is explained at this link-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwvUjAv6pxg&t=27s

In setting up that account, I have done some great soul searching and brain storming and am working on a few aspects of the site that will be tailored to my Patreonic duty (haha).  I hope you will visit it , target date is November 30 to launch!

September Stuff

Greetings fellow creative cronies!!!

Here we are falling into October, wow!  Things have been busy enough at the clay studio that I have not taken any time to paint or draw (yet)…however I have been doing clay projects for a few commissions we have taken on.  One commission we may do is creating racing pigeon nest bowls.  Apparently prize racing pigeons are paired and the chicks go for $1500 a piece!  And nobody in the US is making these unglazed bowls, there is a place in the country where you can go pick them up, they won’t ship them.  Very strange business I am in!   Tomorrow we are hosting Dave Beaty again, teaching watercolor, I am very much looking forward to learning from him in a medium I am very unfamiliar with.  Including a photo of some in progress bowls for a commission including some intended for family heirlooms which makes me feel good.

I have been working on songs, and recording, doing a little here and there and getting to know some new software and decide which song or songs to record, and how. Lots of decisions to make and ear-practice to get to where I feel remotely capable!  The Monday Mash is going on Week 23 I believe this week, I am having the best fun arranging my set and executing the ‘show’.   Thanks to any of you who are able to view it!!   One more photo, from my early morning walk yesterday, really pretty weather this time of year here.

Here is hoping everyone is well and happy, enjoy every moment its really all we have, I am savoring this moment sharing my world with you all and it is a blessing I am very grateful for.  Please comment and share if you feel so compelled and soon new music  and art will be heading your way from an open heart!!

Hugs to all,

Mishy

September Scene

Greetings creative ones! (you don’t have to recognize it, I do!)

Well here we are in September and Mother Nature certainly has been needy of attention lately wow!  Makes our little microbursts here in the desert seem quite childish although they can get pretty drastic.  Prayers and all the support we can muster to help everyone get through rebuilding their homes and lives after the storms, it certainly puts things into perspective.

Teaching and managing the shop have been taking all my art energy the past couple weeks, it’s been super busy with classes and I am really enjoying the steady flow of new folks through the studio checking things out.  This week I am getting back to some painting and taking care of some clay projects that I have had ongoing, I will share those when they are at a point that they seem worthy.

I did manage to write a new song, a theme song for my weekly Monday facebook livestream, and when I debuted it this last Monday I teased that the lyrics would be in this blog post, so as I promised, below are the words to the new Mishy’s Mash theme song <3

Also sharing a video below with my friend Patty Arnold on flute,  Cary Kerstetter on bass and Yvonne Wan videotaping 🙂

Mishy’s Mash
