Sound Design and Electronic Music with Mishy
One of my song lyrics says “I am a musician, a dedicated student of sound”. As an aspiring songwriter and music nerd, I have been studying and creating various types of music and learning what makes the differences and similarities. As a keyboard player, synthesizers have always been intriguing and I find myself on a journey of discovery in the world of electronic music and sound design. I have created a couple cover songs in the electronic music genre and more and more is finding its way into my original songs and studies of sound.
To create my music and soundtracks I use Pro Tools and Ableton Live as well as my phone and lots of fun plugins and synthesizers to add to the toolbox. My most important tools are my ears and I am continually trying to improve my listening skills!
The above video features sound design created to a silent video, using only original vocal samples. The following video is a complete replacement of all sound effects, background sounds and dialogue, using the original sound as a guide. This was a great exercise in using collected sounds and samples and foley.
In the spring of 2024 I had the amazing privilege and experience of being asked to write an electronic dance song sharing the seven values of Paradise Valley Community College. John Keenan I put together a super fun track, with the amazing guitar of Bradford Knights and Jeremy McEwen created the fabulous video below.
